What is Father’s Day?
Father’s Day is a day of parent appreciation dedicated to celebrating fathers, grandfathers and father figures. Although it was introduced as a holiday in 1910, Father’s Day didn’t become an official American holiday until 1972.

The third Sunday of June. This year, Father’s Day falls on June 19.
How do people celebrate Father’s Day?
People celebrate Father’s Day by giving their fathers, grandfathers and father figures gifts and greeting cards. Typical Father’s Day gifts include electronics, tools, grills, sports and outdoor equipment, sports wear, men’s clothing and DVDs and CDs. Many families also go out to dinner, have outdoor cookouts or barbecues or attend a sporting event.
