Vinyl Record Day – August 12

Stones 0030 (3388136957)What is Vinyl Record Day?

Vinyl Record Day (VRD), founded by Gary Freiberg in 2002, celebrates the vinyl record and music while preserving our audio history, recordings, vinyl cover art and the cultural influences of vinyl records. VRD was declared an official holiday in San Luis Obispo County in California by the county’s Board of Supervisors in 2002 and is also a non-profit, tax-exempt 501 (c) 3 organization.

When is Vinyl Record Day?

VRD is celebrated on August 12, the anniversary of the date that Thomas Edison invented the phonograph in 1877.

How do I celebrate Vinyl Record Day?

Celebrate by enjoying your favorite music with your family and friends. Pull out your record collection, dust off the record player and leave the iPods and stereos at home (just for today).
