July 2 is a day to celebrate the existence of Unidentified Flying Objects!
World UFO Day is celebrated on July 2 in honor of the “Roswell Incident”. On July 2, 1947, Mac Brazel discovered some strange metallic wreckage in Roswell, New Mexico. The military removed the wreckage, and during a press release reported recovering a “flying disk”. The next day, they said it was simply a radar-tracking balloon and the incident was forgotten. However, 30 years later, a member of the original recovery team, said it had been an alien spacecraft. Now, it is widely believed the American government and military have knowledge of extraterrestrial happenings from Area 51 in Roswell, New Mexico and have simply covered it up for various reasons.
The first World UFO day was celebrated in 2001 to raise awareness about UFO’s and the presence of other intelligent beings. This day is also used to encourage governments to disclose any known information about UFO’s. You can celebrate today by keeping your eyes on the sky or organizing a watch party with your friends. You can also watch alien and UFO themed movies or, my personal favorite, relax with an X-Files marathon!
Happy UFO hunting!
