United States Air Force Turns 65!

On this day in 1947, the United States Air Force (USAF)  was created as a separate branch of the military under the National Security Act of 1947.

The USAF’s birthday is not only a day to celebrate the Air Force but to celebrate and recognize the men and women who have served and currently serve on the USAF. Head over to the White House blog to read the Secretary of the Air Force Michael Donley’s, Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Mark A. Welsh III’s and Chief Master Sgt. of the Air Force James Roy’s birthday message that recognizes the accomplishments the USAF has made.

If you know anyone who is a part of the Air Force, show them your thanks and appreciation. If you don’t know anyone in the Air Force, you can still honor those in service by sending a thank you message to a military family at whitehouse.gov.

Finally, take some time to learn more about the United States Air Force – it’s mission and values, history, and more – at Airforce.com.
