Michael Crichton’s Birthday

October 23 is Michael Crichton’s birthday!

Crichton is the creator of the television series ER and author of  Jurassic Park, The Andromeda Strain, Disclosure, and many more novels in the action, science fiction, and techno-thriller genres. He was born on October 23, 1942, and drew upon his lifelong interest in computers and his medical training and science background in his work until his death on November 4, 2008.

Though he received his MD from Harvard Medical School, Crichton eventually worked full time as an author, screenwriter, producer, and director. He published 27 novels (14 of which were adapted to film) and several short stories and non-fiction works,  sold over 200 million books, wrote and/or directed ten films (three of which were adaptations of his novels), and created, wrote, and produced the TV medical drama ER.
