48 Hours Premiers

True crime documentary television show 48 Hours premiered for the first time on January 19, 1988. Since then, the series has aired Saturday nights at 10pm Eastern/9pm Central time. The show’s format and name were inspired by a CBS News documentary that aired in 1986 called 48 Hours on Crack Street.
48 Hours looks into shocking real life cases in a two day time span. The show has won multiple awards, including: three Peabody Awards, 18 Emmy Awards, five RTNDA Edward R. Murrow Awards, and one Alfred DuPont-Columbia Award.
