Borden Murders

On August 4, 1892 Andrew and Abby Borden were murdered with an axe in their home in Fall River, Massachusetts. About one week later, Lizzie Borden was arrested for the murder of her father and stepmother.

The trial, which began on June 5 in 1983, lasted 15 days and ended with the acquittal of Lizzie Borden. Upon her release from jail, Lizzie Borden chose to resume her residency in Fall River despite being ostracized by everyone in the town.

Although she was found not guilty, many people still believe to this day that Lizzie Borden was responsible for the murders. Other theories include the maid, an illegitimate son, or Andrew Borden’s first wife as the true suspects in this horrifying crime.
