Tweed Day

April 3 is Tweed Day!

There is some speculation as to whether Tweed Day celebrates the rough woolen material originating from Scotland or the infamous politician William “Boss” Tweed who was born on this day in 1823.

It is said that senator turned crook Boss Tweed stole some $200 million from public funds as he went on to become one of the most corrupt and powerful politicians of all time. If you are uninterested in celebrating the life of a dirty politician, there is always the tweed fabric to pay homage to!

Celebrate Tweed Day by incorporating some of the twill material into your outfit today; it never goes out of style!
