Elvis Presley Dies

Affectionately known as the “King of Rock and Roll”, Elvis Aron Presley was born on January 8, 1935 in Tupelo, Mississippi. He moved with his family to Memphis, Tennessee at the age of 13, which is where he began his bustling music career.

After graduating from high school in 1953, Elvis recorded his premiere demo with Sun Studio; his first single “That’s All Right” was released in 1954. Upon the release of his debut album, Elvis blew up. In 1956, he had his first No. 1 Single (“Heartbreak Hotel”), first No. 1 Album (Elvis Presley), and signed a movie contract with Paramount.

Elvis went on to become one of the most iconic entertainers of the 20th century, characterized by his new take on music, provocative dance moves, and charming good looks. Some of his most famous songs include: “Jailhouse Rock”, “Can’t Help Falling in Love”, and “Love Me Tender” among many others.

Elvis Presley died at the age of 42 on August 16, 1977 due to heart failure.

Since releasing her debut album in 1983, Madonna has released a 12 albums, starred and/or appeared in 19 films, embarked on 9 concert tours, and stirred up plenty of controversy through her constant experimentation and reinventing of her music and her image. In addition to singing, dancing, and acting, Madonna has ventured into fashion design, writing children’s books, and film directing and producing.
