February 8 is Boy Scouts Day!
W.D. Boyce integrated the Boy Scouts of America on February 8, 1910 with the help of Edward S. Stewart and Stanley D. Willis. This American youth organization was modeled after the Boy Scout Association that existed inEngland.
Today, the Boy Scouts of America program boasts nearly three million youth members and one million adult volunteers. The main goal of the Boy Scouts of America is to train youth members in conscientious citizenship, character growth, and self-reliance by way of involvement in outdoor activities and educational programs.
According to Scouting.com, the Scout Oath (or Scout Promise) is as follows:
“On my honor I will do my best/To do my duty to God and my country/and to obey the Scout Law/To help other people at all times/To keep myself physically strong,/mentally awake, and morally straight.”
