So many people across the United States love eating crabmeat that it now has its own national holiday! Crabs make up 20% of all the crustaceans we consume, which equals out to roughly 1.5 million tons of crab per year. The most popular type of crab to eat is the Japanese blue crab, accounting for 1/5 of our crab consumption. Getting to the actual crabmeat is the tough part, but once you crack through the shell, it is well worth it!
Celebrate National Crabmeat Day by ordering a crab infused dish at your favorite seafood restaurant or, if you’re feeling adventurous, take a crack at making your own crab dish.
