May 28 is National Hamburger Day! Not to be confused with National Cheeseburger Day, which is celebrated on September 18.
The hamburger is an American institution, having been enjoyed by throes of people in the United States for decades. The hamburger is said to have originated in Hamburg, Germany, but the process of eating it with a bun began in America, specifically Seymour, Wisconsin. Each year, the city hosts a festival called Burger Fest to celebrate the hamburger. In 2001, it was the host of the world’s largest hamburger weighing in at 8,266 lbs.!
Celebrate National Hamburger Day by hosting a cookout for friends and family where the hamburger is the guest of honor. If you don’t have time for a cookout, head on over to your favorite burger joint and indulge in a juicy hamburger. Enjoy!
