Disobedience Day

Disobedience Day celebrates civil disobedience as a means of peaceful, nonviolent protest or resistance. It’s also a day to pay tribute to those who have used civil disobedience to fight injustice and make a positive change in the world. You might know these individuals as Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Jr., Rosa Parks, and Henry David Thoreau, to name a few.

Celebrate Disobedience Day by using peaceful, nonviolent civil disobedience to fight an injustice. For inspiration, check out Thoreau’s famous essay on civil disobedience.
