Tug-O-War Day

July 21 is National Tug-of-War Tournament Day!

The game of Tug-of-War (or as some call it, Tug-O-War) is the ultimate test of strength; two teams compete against each other to pull the opposing side over the center line. Official Tug-of-War rules call for two teams of eight people and may feature a moat in the middle of the teams that the losers fall into.

There is evidence that a version of Tug-of-War has been played for a very long time, even in ancient Egypt and China! Tug-of-War was also a featured Olympic sport from 1900-1920, and since its removal, many Tug-of-War enthusiasts are trying to have it reintroduced.

Celebrate National Tug-of-War Tournament Day by playing a friendly game of Tug-of-War with your pals!
