May 27 is Sunscreen Day!
There are over 1 million cases of skin cancer diagnosed in the United States each and every year. Sunscreen Day was introduced with the intent of educating and raising awareness about the importance of protecting yourself from the sun’s harmful rays.
The end of May kicks off the official start of summer and the vacationing season, so it is the perfect time of year to remind people about wearing sunscreen. Leaving your skin exposed to the sun is the foundation for a variety of health problems, including sunspots, premature aging, and cancer.
Medical professionals all over the globe fervently advocate the use of sunscreen with an SPF of at least 15. Remember to reapply every two hours and after you have been swimming. Summer is supposed be the most enjoyable time of the year, so please remember to protect yourself and your skin by lathering on the sunscreen.
